Poor, poor customer service

After placing an order on 12 December with groupon for one of their products they supply themselves (not through a 3rd party), I figured it would only come in the new year due to Christmas, New Year, leave time etc. I logged in around the middle of January to see the status of the order, to see to my surprise that it indicated "delivered". I called, to which the response was that they had been popular, and that I could still place an order but only in limited colours. To which I did begrudgingly (again), for the same item I originally ordered in the same colour I originally ordered. I waited until the end of Jan as it was indicated 5-7 working days. Nothing. I called again on 12 February with the response of escalation to logistics and will contact me accordingly the same day. No response. I had to call again to follow up, and eventually requested a refund, for the response to be "oh the first time you called, you should have been offered a refund".
My concern is not so much about the refund, but to why I had to keep following up on my order which seemed dead long back. Was Groupon just going to keep my money and hope I forget?
Will be very reluctant to buy in future...
