Damaged Gift, still no response in new yea

I purchased my 5 year old her end of year gift from Groupon . it was a MyPad 7 inch tablet. She lives in Johanessburg and visits me twice a year in Durban. The product charges but does not work at all out of charge . i contacted groupon on the 9 december and spoke to Zimbini Hlazo, She promised to follow up and all i got was that they are still working on my request on the 13 December. Upto now i have no response and I had to purchase my daughter another tablet from a local supplier. The service is unreliable and very poor and i am a regular purchaser. I would like to take further to consumer council as well. Please avoid electronic products on groupon. All i want is a refund for a faulty item and therefore i expect atleast a response
