Confiscated items without valid reasons

I was going through security where I was asked to open my bag and remove certain items to which they were confiscated without a valid reason, the supervisor (black female) just kept saying 'because you can't' and then turned her back on me mid conversation and walked away. She was rude, arrogant and disrespectful and I still don't know why my stuff was confiscated even though it was perfectly legal to carry with me. I did check the law and I do know my rights in this regard.
