Searching of Bags at Boarding Gate

On 20/12/12 as we walked up to board our Qantas/SAA flight to Perth from JHB we were stopped by ASA security staff who were asking to search persons hand luggage/ handbags before boarding the plane to check for any liquids that needed to be placed in clear bags (this for us was unusual as we fly to Europe/ UK Middle E often have never been searched on boarding a flight before for liquids), however we were fine with it until the search of my bag begun. Firstly, is it not a right or law that a women's bag should be checked by female personal, apparently not. A young male abruptly and without asking opened by bag and started rummaging through it before I could even say a word - pulling out my sanitary pads etc. (shocked embarrassed), he took out 3 liquids I had not placed in a clear bag (as I have never done this before). He then started SHOVING my belongings back into my bag and it was then I said 'please can you put back my stuff the way you found it as there are fragile items in there'. All then broke loose and this is then he literally started yelling at me & my husband in front of all the other passengers telling us he was just doing his job It didn't stop there! TBC
