Lanseria Airport
Carpark rules

Traveling & Tourism

I went to pick up my nephew from Lanseria airport yesterday at 4:30pm. Came there around 3: 45pm. They have a new drop off/pick up zone on the side which i was not much familiar with. I went there with my daughter, parked the car and went in to wait for flight to land. When i came out there was a letter on my window, stating that my car wheel was clamped down for leaving my car "unattended'. There were plenty of cars around in the parking... i went in to information and was told its a rule, u cannot leave ur car "unattended" when parking there. I had to pay R 500 on the spot. I was speaking to the Carport manager at this time. He told me there is huge sign that informs people of that. Well, i did not read the huge sign at that time which was located in the entrance just after you turn right into zone. My question is: So, you can leave your car there the whole day as long as someone is by the car? whats the difference then? its not like there was no parking, you see taxi's parking there for long periods of time? Could the carguard which issued the letter not be kind enough to inform you of this rule. Do they get commission on this?
