At 20h30 last night a frustrating issue connected to a flight change was quickly and efficiently sorted out by Lungile at the SAA Call Centre. A supervisor, she was called in by Thando, the unfortunate agent who was No 5 on the long list of agents I'd spoken to over 7 days, trying to confirm the flight change and fees etc. Thando took personal ownership of the problem (a series of agents had progressively messed up the booking and misquoted by 500% the change fee), and constantly kept in touch to keep me updated as to progress. Finally, he called me late last night and put Lungile on the line. She, in a matter of minutes, saw the airport tax error, re quoted correctly, charged my credit card and emailed the e-ticket to me. Thando, in the meantime, had spent the afternoon doing what the other agents said they had done - cancelled the flight I didn't want, and re booked me on the correct flight. OK, I realise that SAA cocked it up in the first place, but getting Lungile and Thando to solve the problem was a pleasure - they really are so pleasant, professional and helpful and a credit to SAA.
