Cancellation of Booked and Paid for Tickets

Traveling & Tourism

BOOKING REF # ELASVW
I have tried to cancel the flights that were booked and paid for during April 2013 but with no success - I just get told: "Sorry for you. If you want to cancel, we keep the money you paid us."
Surely this is not correct under the Consumer Protection Act?

I do know the following:
oA supplier may require a reasonable deposit for an advance reservation - this was done as the full amount for the flights were paid - some R5, 038
oA supplier may impose a reasonable charge for cancellation of the order or reservation.
oA charge is considered unreasonable if it exceeds a fair amount with regard to the nature of the goods; how early the consumer cancels the reservation and whether the supplier can find another consumer to take up the reservation
- surely not being able to cancel the flight tickets constitutes unfair business practice
- surely me just losing more than R5, 000 does not constitute a "fair" cancellation fee
- surely a 3 month's advance notice constitutes a fair time and I am sure that Kulula will find another consumer to take up the reservation
