SAA made me pay for their mistake

Aug 16 I called SAA customer care to enquire about my baggage allowance. After telling the lady that I had an international first class flight with BA later that night, she told me that they would allow me an extra free bag weighing 23kg.

Sunday 18th at the airport however there was no record of the conversation on Friday. The lady at checkin called her manager. After explaining to her the situation she told the lady to check in my bag&that she would then come clear it.

She got busy however and the checkin lady called her supervisor/team leader instead. He however wanted to hear the whole story again&very rudely simply said no. I told him the name of the lady I spoke to on Friday etc, but he was plain terrible, showed me his name badge, told me to lodge a complaint and claim my money back if I wanted - customer care is closed. Strange coz the customer care I called was a 24 hour one. He was arrogant, sarcastic, incredibly rude&unprofessional.

I was standing there with my mom&a friend, about to leave home for at least year. This man left me incredibly upset & in tears for the wrong reason.

I did not expect this type of service - lack thereof - from SAA.
