Still owing MTN after 7 years?!

Seven years ago I had officially closed a contract with MTN. I had cleared all outstanding amount when the contract was being cancelled. However, every year since then, MTN would request for an outstanding amount. I needed to clarify with them every year. When I request for a letter to state that I have actually cleared the outstanding balance, they refused, says that they don't offer such services. So now they are turning this case to an accounting company and required me to pay an extra R300 for the service. I sincerely hope that they have some sense and stop bothering me with a fault I did not commit.
