Need to Notify People how the isurance works

I have been mugged on my way to work and my cell phone got, got a case number and everything called cell c to block the phone and told them that the sim card that I took out with the contract was not in my phone the other cell c contract sim card was in it at that time, so my argument is do we insure the phone or sim card, so now they want me to pay for something I don't have and I find it unfair. They Should Explain to be how taking out insurance on the phone really works.
