Telkom ADSL so slow, it's nearly useless!

I rent a my ADSL line and Internet Data from MWEB, and phoned them first when I started having connectivity and speed problems. The MWEB operator was very friendly and assisted me in tracing possible causes of the problem, including router setup, rebooting routers, etc. Eventually, the operator advised me to switch from my MWEB ADSL account to a Telkom test account, to see if cutting MWEB out of the loop solves my problem. It did not, so we concluded that the issue was with Telkom, and they logged a call on my behalf.

About a week later Telkom phoned me to check if the issue had been resolved, at which point, it had not been fully restored, and my 1Mb line was running at less than half it's maximum speed. The consultant continued to inquire whether I would want a technician to come out to my home and assess a possible line fault, and threatened me that I might be liable for a wrongful callout fee, if the issue was found to be in my house (i.e. my router, access point, netwerk cabling etc.). I accepted that, as I work in the IT industry and know very well that my hardware is fine. Have not heard back more than a month later. And my line speed still. Call Ref 1096489
