HI, I signed up for a 8ta contract since my son is in matric. we tried connecting to the internet during the first week, and experienced connection problems constantly. i went to a branch of telkomdirect stores at the pavillion in westville. the consultants did tell me that if i cancelled within the first 7 days, that they will inform the main branch in Gauteng by sending them an email. I then went back to the chatsworth branch store to where i signed up for the contract and cancelled within 6 days, and was told that there was a problem other customers had in our area in malvern and that the tower was damaged. i told the consultant that i wanted to cancel my contract and rather install the telkom simple internet line that is a fixed line, which i did and i am currently paying for without any connection problems. the guy at 8ta gave me a reference number. a few weeks later when i called 8ta they said the account has not been cancelled even after numerous calls and going back to the store. they now debited my account which i reversed, but is now a bad reflection on my account. i was applying for a home loan. now my acc is reflecting unpaid although i reversed the debit.
