Cannot fix my problem

I had a landline installed in my House in Dec and took out a monthly internet contact.
I used the internet without any problems and payments being made. The internet was not working from end Feb, I took the router into a telkom store but I needed to get a reference number. I phoned Telkom and asked for a reference, accounts asked me for the landline number (which I unfortunately do not have) then told me I do not have a landline account with Telkom (weird as they installed it and internet was working) they then told me I cancelled the order for the landline?! (which has already been installed)

They have called numerous times telling me to pay the outstanding amount on the internet contract (which I wont as I have not been able to use the internet for the last 3 months.

I have now been handed over and again told to pay the outstanding then they will fix the line.

Please let me know why I need to pay for a non-existent internet service?
