I received a notification from Vodacom for 'more than normal data usage' (which is supposed to be not more than R500 per month if you look at previous records), but the total already was R1900 for one week! That is totally insane!!

I logged a query, was referred to the Advanced Data Support Team who phoned me. They said there was a lot of Gmail connections especially uploads? I work from home and have ADSL with Wi-Fi, so why would I struggle with slow 3G if I have fast ADSL? I do not even receive that much emails and rarely send any.

I did receive an excel sheet with 'apparent' connections which mean nothing but just a lot of numbers. I then send another query which I did online and received a reply which says according to their records I used a lot of data for Gmail and that I will be responsible for the bill thereof!

This reply is totally unacceptable, since I specifically asked them to investigate further, which was NOT done! Why does Vodacom have this 'don't care attitude'? Did it ever occur to them that someone else might be using my data? Why must I pay for something I didn't use? Will lay a complaint in terms of Consumer Protection Act!
