Mtn sell email addresses to other companies

MTN sold my email address to Budget insurance. How do I know it was MTN? I have a specific email address for each company when I provide information, so that I know if they pass on my address and that I can block it in future. I am surprised that a reputable company such as MTN would do this. If I am asked if my information can be passed in, I always say no. Maybe this was hidden in the small print. BEWARE.
