I have supported Vodacom for 14 years, but today... I'm on a talk1000 package with a data bundle of 250Mb. On 05/03/13 at 1:40 in the morning I received an SMS stating that I still have 118Mb available.By 4:42 I received an SMS stating that my bundle was depleted and that out-of-bundle rates apply. I don't think I've ever used all the data in the bundle and this happened while I was sleeping. I realised something was wrong and logged onto the Vodacom Website and purchased a 100Mb data bundle, this was about 13:30, by 22:34 it was depleted. I then switched the mobile data connection on my phone off. I bought another data bundle of 100Mb today which expired by 15:37. I found that my e-mail was draining my data bundle but no e-mail was coming to my phone. I accept the fact that I now have to pay for 2Gb of data that my phone downloaded on out-of-bundle rates, I asked Vodacom to put a limit on my data bundle so that this would not happen again, the reply was sorry, we can't do this, we can limit your calls but not the data. Smart phones are connected all the time, how else do I ensure that my phone does not start downloading something again and then I sit with a R2000.00 bill again.
