How did my data contract become open ended???

I took out a My GIG 2 2 data bundle out over the phone in July 2012. I have religiously paid R 149 a month as per the contract. In December the contract suddenly became an open contract and my usage was now more than R1, 000! I queried this with Vodacom and they have not given any valid reason for why this happened except that I may have requested an open contract. I requested the audio recording of the contract as I can't remember making such a request and have had no response in a month. This month Vodacom tried to take more than R3, 000 from my bank account...
