Still paying 4 phone after 24 month contract ended

I have been due for an upgrade since Dec 2012, i haven't upgraded as of yet as i'm still undecided on which phone to take. My problem is that i am still being billed R150 and thats inclusive of the phone and only getting R100 worth of airtime. I would have assumed that since well my 2 year contract is over i would get R150 worth of airtime but thats clearly not the case. MTN's consultants are rather poor at giving me clarity on this billing issue and are quick to dismay this issue (which i find rather annoying, since i've been a loyal costumer to MTN) and the monthly invoices t/c don't help either.
Question is: why ami still paying for the phone after the contract ended last year already and whats the way forward???
