No coverage in city centre?

I recently relocated to Kimberley. Upon arrival I placed an order for a Telkom landline with the view of getting an ADSL line as well at the Telkom direct store. I was told there was coverage in my area. Almost 25 days after, a technician comes through to do the install. He checks around and then tells me there is no coverage in my area and leaves to confirm at the office, which he does. I am staying in the heart of Kimberley. 300m away from me is the Provincial rugby stadium and the North Cape Mall. 100m away from me is the Local Virgin Active Gym and a High School just opposite the road. All around me is the residential area (Royaldene), there are houses everywhere. Do you really mean to say Telkom does not cover this area? I desperately require the landline and ADSL access.
