Don't trust R149 data deal from MTN - R6000 BILL

I have 2 contracts with MTN, 1X voice package and 1X 2Gb 3G data for R149 per month. I've had the 3G for just over a year and every month once the 2GB data was used up MTN wouldn't allow more data to be used ensuring that my bill was R149 every month. This is fine and exactly what I signed up for. This morning I tried to make a call with my voice package and was greeted with a voice saying that my account has been suspended and I must phone MTN. It ends up that MTN didn't stop the data once it reached 2GB and for some reason which I cannot explain there is now an additional 22.11 GB used for an amount of R 5204.22 (excl. VAT). This is why my account has been suspended. How can you do this MTN? Why didn't you stop the data after 2Gb like always and why am I now left with an unplanned bill of R 6081.91 (incl vat) for something that is supposed to stop at R 149? There has been a mistake and I plead with you to please fix it. :-(
