On Monday 21 January 2013 I telephonically requested from the call centre of MTN, a copy of my MTN contract which I entered into on 27 January 2011, when I got a new upgrade. I was advised that I would receive a copy within 48 hours.
One week later I was still waiting for it.
On Thursday 31 January 2013 I contacted the MTN call centre again to ask for a copy of my contract. My contact details were confirmed once again, and they apologised for it not being sent to me. I was assured I would receive a copy of my contract within 48 hours.
It is now Wednesday 6 February 2013 and I am still waiting...
As it is, MTN are refuting my entitlement to cancel my contract as of 27 January 2013, stating that I can only do so in April 2013 - 27 months after my last upgrade!!! I was advised by MTN that the reason relates to many years ago when I upgraded at 21 months, and that i dont have the National Consumer Protection Act to assist me. Being an attorney, I want a copy of my contract so that I can check the necessary clauses pertaining to this and make an informed decision. Either way I am going to cancel my contract and move to Vodacom because MTN never have iPhone 5's available.
