Sluggish 1 meg ADSL Line - very bad

My wife have signed up for a Telkom 24 month 1meg uncapped line last week (29/01/2014) due to the high cellular data packages cost. The router was installed by the technician today and he informed me that I must call 10210 to complete the installation. I was on hold for at least 3 hours in total until the call was answered. The consultant help me to set up my router & internet and we tested the speed. It was so slow, even the google website took a time to load. The consultant try to remedy the situation by saying that all customers will be moved to 2 meg later on.

My laptop is brand new that I used to communicate with my family from Angola and this slow internet service is not what I expected. According to the consumer protection act, one can request that the contract been stopped and line to be removed within a period of time. This slow internet will cost me over R500 a month for 24 months and you can bearly Skype with this connection. I will take it up with Telkom Festival Mall to cancel my contract tomorrow. This was a total waste of my time & money.
