I purchased a new cellphone on contract from MTN in December. I was told by the assistant who happened to be a trainee that the call rate was R1-00 per minute plus vat. She gave me the pricing on three occasions on the third time I asked her to make sure that the rate was R1-00 per minute. She went away and came back and confirmed this. I have now found out that the call rate was in fact R2-30 per minute. I reported this to the assistant manager at the branch who investigated and confirmed that I had indeed been given the incorrect call rate.
I was told the matter would be escalated to MTN to sort out the issue. Not having heard anything for a while I went around today and asked to speak to the assistant manager. She was away and I then asked to speak to the manager. He failed to see me and instead another employee arrived and said he would assist me. He insinuated that it was my fault as I could see the girl who helped me originally was a trainee. He said I must not make any further calls as I am being charged the higher price and it cannot be changed. I feel that MTN should honour the call rate I was quoted.
