Disgusted

Telecommunications

I recently upgraded one of my numbers to a Blackberry Q5. I was told that the contract with the Q5 phone would no longer have the BIS and was allocated free minutes, sms's and 200mb of data. I was told that this would only come into effect in February 2014. When doing the sim swap to the micro sim, I asked the Vodacare attendant whether I could use the phone on my main number (which has BIS). She said it didn't matter which phone was used on which contract so I swapped it to my main number. I decided that I couldn't get on with the Q5 and asked my son whether he would like to use it for his phone (his contract, another of my numbers also has BIS). We did the sim swaps and after one day he discovered that all of his air time had been used up, he had no data and now he had a micro sim - couldn't even go back to his other phone. I have had many other issues too, but I want to know whether it is lawful to change the contract terms on a number just because the type of phone changes. I feel it is totally wrong. Surely a Blackberry is a Blackberry.
