No feedback on report/cancelled contract

On 27 March I received a call from Cell C asking how my customer experience was regarding an upgrade I had made. I made no such upgrade and on 28 March when I visited a Cell C store for clarification on this, it became apparent that someone had made an upgrade using my ID number and account. I then followed the procedure as required and got an affidavit from the police stating the activity. I also expressed my wishes to cancel my contract. My number was disconnected and on 3 April I again visited a Cell C store to find out if my contract had in fact been cancelled and if I could somehow keep my number on a 'pay as you go basis'. I was told I could and my number would be activated within 24 hours. It wasn't and on 4 April I phoned Cell C directly to try fix the problem. I was told that someone would phone me back and no one has done so. My number is still disconnected (which I use for business) and I still do not have any confirmation that my contract has been cancelled as per my instructions. I am now concerned that I will be charged for a service I am no longer receiving due to my number not being in use. I am desperate for a response now!
