I have been an MTN contract customer for nearly 4 years now and in those years I never missed a payment. I requested roaming services for a week in July 2013 of which my recording of my usage came to about 36 Mb. To my surprise, I got a R17 000 from MTN which is outrageous. This meant I had used about 170Mb of data. I am an IT person who is constantly roaming and monitoring my usage at such and all the explanations from MTN people are not in line with what actual happened. Besides me paying my other monthly subscriptions, MTN decided to suspend all services on all my contracts without warning and still continue sending me monthly subscription bills without usage.
I have tried to address this issue through their credit and technical departments but it seems whatever I say to highlight my argument is crashed by the fact that MTN believes it is the only correct entity in this case and I am wrong. Now I am going to be forced to service a bill which is not necessarily true (to safeguard my credit record and integrity) and there is no escalation I can do within MTN as they are not providing any other channels.
