My cellphone accounts for myself and my wife usually ranges between R2 - 3000 per month. On 6/10/2013 I received a SMS stating unusual high data usage. Knowing that my wife downloaded 2 cd's I thought that might have caused the unusual high bill of R 6000 at that point already! I talked to my wife and we stopped all downloads etc on her iPhone and she deleted Facebook and whatsapp immediately. I didn't hear anything from Vodacom again until I checked my bank statement on 20/11/2013 and was shocked to find that Vodacom debited my account with almost R 20000!!! I obviously thought that there was something wrong and called the call centre. I placed calls almost every day for five days until someone said that they'll arrange an audit of the data usage. They also said the waiting period would be 2 weeks. I subsequently also heard that my wife's current data usage was R 10000!!! I switched off that phone with all my wife's contacts! She's a musician and is losing gigs by the day! I haven't heard anything from Vodacom until 23/12/2013 stating only that there is a delay in the data enquiry!
I did manage to reverse the debit order, but no communication from Vodacom leaves me in the dark.
