Telkom Internet DSL clients cannot access world

On Friday 10 January 2014 we experienced problems connecting to the Playstation network and international gaming systems. I spent several hours troubleshooting the issue to no avail. Eventually I applied for a temporary account from a different ISP and was able to connect and access all services immediately. From this I deduced that there is a problem on Telkom's network and logged a call via their web service. I received a reference on Monday, however no feedback for the past week. I then contacted them today (17 Jan) on 10210 and spent a total 42 minutes waiting for the call to be answered. The call ended and I range back again.
After 2 minutes the call was answered. The DSL agent informed me that Telkom's Internet access to international sites was affected on Friday 10 January and there is no indication on when it will be repaired. I requested to escalate it and was put on hold for another 20 minutes.
I have two complaints: Why no notice of the issue? And why not provide an alternate service as it has been down for more than 6 days?
