My Telkom-mix contract had reached its 24 month expiry date so I decided to convert to prepaid. On the 24/12/2013 I was told that it will be done and all I needed to do was pick up the SIM card in 2 days time. when I go back to fetch my new SIM card, I find out that the lady that helped me was on leave and none of the other staff members knew what I was talking about. Eventually I was given a SIM card and was told that it will be activated. The problem was, the guy never took down any details from the SIM card and just handed it over. Then my contract SIM gets suspended without prior notification. I have been going back and forth from call centre to Telkom offices to sort the problem out. After much frustration, on the 13/01/2014, a staff member tells me that they are waiting for the call centre to activate my SIM and that the IT guy will sort the problem out. Till today, nothing has been done. How long does it take to switch from contract to prepaid, and will I be reimbursed with the airtime that I had topped up? Is there someone in Telkom who can genuinely help me and not make me do the run around? The Ballito and call centre staff seem clueless as to what they are doing.
