Can't cancel adsl service

I am trying to move from Telkom to another ISP (Afrihost). This should be quite straightforward.

I have twice been to the Telkom outlet in Bayside Shopping Centre. They try to connect to the Telkom internet department and after lengthy waits ask me to go home and contact either 0800 00 00 84 (internet technical) or the general adsl number 10210 in my own time. Well, after 4 days and several call attempts, I have only managed to get through to 1 person, who then transferred the call - leaving me stranded for over 30 minutes before I had to hang up the call!
this morning I called at 9.15am and am still holding on (at 10210) at 10.44am!!! This is an unbelievable waist of my time and also telephone cost (to Telkom, as the call is free to me).

If one cannot even cancel a service with Telkom, how are they going to survive?

More importantly... how do I proceed her?

Shocking, pathetic Telkom.
