Vodacom refuses to fix my dead phone

Telecommunications

I got an iPhone on contract with vodacom in december 2012 last november all of a sudden the phone just went dead. I took it in to VodaCare Jabulani mall. First i was told that i would have to pay for the phone since it was out of warranty. I told them that the phone was still under warranty. They are now telling me i have to pay over R3000 to repair the phone because it has a small crack on the glass. I don't understand this because first of all the small crack has nothing to do with the phone not turning on. We all have phones we live with and we've all had situations where your phone would slip out of your hand and fall. So i don't accept being told the phone won't be repaired because of the small crack. I won't.

So i'd like Vodacom to explain to me why i have to pay for a phone the yet they refuse to fix it due to something that has nothing do with it being broken
