Surprise!!! You can't change your contract type

I have been with MTN for the last 8 to 10 years and I recently decided to have a contract with MTN since I can afford it. I was advised that I can change my contract from Open Line to Top Up anytime and so I made it open line to see if I will be able to discipline myself and unfortunately my first bill was R1800, followed by other high balances for the last 3 months I have had the contract. I then decided to change it to top up and I called the call centre on 808. No, dude, you must go to an MTN shop with your ID, they will change it for you!!! I waste my money going to an MTN shop on West Street Durban... And surprise!!! No dude, we can't change it on the system they should have changed it at call centre when you called them... And I said call your call centre now guys... the guy dials and surprise!!! No, tell that good client of ours, he can't change the contract to top up for the next 24 months!!! looking like a fool in front of tens of people, I left the shop feeling so embarrassed. Here I am on Hello Peter, CHANGE MY CONTRACT TO TOP UP NOW!!! When I run out of my free airtime, I wanna buy my own. THANK YOU!!! I won't take excuses, I pay MTN thousands of rands...
