Deleting my number and talking over R900 airtime

I had 2 vodacom contracts, and cancelled the one i wasnt using, but have been paying for year. It had over R900 airtime accumulated and the call center agent told me it would still be available if i cancel and move over to prepaid. Today i've added the sim to a phone to make a few call, as i've got lots of airtime on their, it said no network. Phoned vodacom, and they said no they've deleted the number with all the airtime. Now i've lost over R900 that i paid for. And they cannot even accommodate one by saying we'll transfer the airtime that you had, to another number. How can this be fair? And the call center isnt even trying to assist, the keep on saying unfortunately you've lost all that money. I know it's not a lot of money, but i paid for it, as i've paid for the sim card as well, surely you cannot just delete it and take away my airtime? i havent even been notified that this will happen. I've got another contract with vodacom that i'm considering to close, as this is not how i believe one does business, by taking someone's money that they've paid for. I've been at vodacom for many many years, i've always paid them on time. Why are you doing this to me??
