Vodacom
Non compliance with consumer protections act

Telecommunications

I purchased a Z10 through contract from Vodcom. I then updated my software as requested by the device. Thereafter the camera would not open. I sent it back two days after i received the phone. Needless to say its been seven days and i do not have a phone. It is obvious that its a defective phone especially after two days, they should have replaced the phone right there. Last i checked the consumer protections act stated that should a customer be provided a defective product i can request a refund, repair or replacement. This problem i had with this phone is not new and they are well aware of it. MTN provides a new phone at the spot for its customers, if they experienced what occurred with my phone. Refer to section 20 and 56 of Consumer protections Act. I also refuse to pay for a full months subscription, since i have been without a phone for a week. I will also submit a formal claim to Consumer Protection, I may have suffered but this will prevent any other people to suffer in the future.
