Billed R1000 extra for data I didn't use!!!

I have a 3G data device that I use for my laptop. Every month I am pedantic about checking that I haven't run over my data limit. It came to the end of last month and I had run out by about the 23rd so I switched the device off and didn't use it again that month. Now I received a massive bill for an extra R1000. I feel this is extremely unfair and I hope this will be rectified ASAP.
