HUGE data usage charges on my account

I would like to complain about the data usage charges on my account for the month of March. I have a new IPhone 5. I have also been charged for downloading data which amounted to at some days R895 per day. This started on 18 March and by the end of March reached R1800 over my total data bundle. 1 day I was charged R895... the next R6.. and the next R121. I have been informed my Vodacom that it has to do with the new smartphones, that they do automatic updates and that they can't do anything about it. No one warned me... which I believe they should have, that you are taking a risk by using the new device. They advised me that I should buy extra data bundles on top of my contract amount which includes data. Or simply just take the risk of extra data being used on my phone which I am being billed for. If I knew that I would be charged 4 times the amount of my normal bill... I def! would not have bought this device from Vodacom. Now I pay for services and a device I can't use!
