My line was installed on the 5th of November 2013 with a pro rata invoice sent to me already. The problem is that i have not been able to browse a single website for the past 3 weeks. I've reported it 5 times with 5 different reference numbers (probably to keep their turn around time low on the calls). Every time i report it the call centre agent admits that there's errors on this line and tells me that it will take 2-6 working days to fix. 2 Days later i will get a sms that it was resolved, then when i get home it's exactly the same. Phoning in I'll get a new reference number because "the new service call has been closed and a new call needs to be created" which means that it will take a further 2-6 working days to "fix". My question is: Is it really fair to pay for something that's not working? Today is exactly 21 days later with the same issue.
I don't know if it's an inability or ignorance to rectify a problem like this, but I'm sure Telkom smiles all the way to the bank every month with payments not deserved at all.
Must be really great to be the monopoly of fixed line services in South Africa.
