I have had the misfortune of having decided to use Telkom as a DSL provider with the expectation of having a fixed line which "should" be more stable than that of the mobile operators.
Well, every second time i look, the DSL line is down and then I phone Telkom and they test the line and blame my setup and the devices on my side then it seems to connect as it feels, then just as quickly the connection is lost again.

I have looged numerouse calls at Telkom for this problem as well as the fact the the telephone line appears to be excessively noisy. They always say that from their side it is clear so it somehow becomes my (the consumer's) problem.

Why is it that when the consumer has a technical problem, we need to become experts, better qualified than the "techincal" support people before we can conclusively prove that the fault on their side and we eventually receive usable service?

This is not fair on the consumer as we PAY good money for what should be GOOD service and what lands up happening is we have to fight to get service and he who shouts the loudest wins.

Telkom is quick to threaten to terminate on non paymen, but will not reimburse for non delivery
