Vodacom databundle issue

I have a 100mb data bundle with vodacom currently that runs month to month for a few months. Usually when these bundles run out vodacom lets you know so that you can get more bundles. However this time vodacom did not let me know and data started going off my airtime causing me to lose - R400 of airtime. My account still shows that the 100mb is active and not depleted. So why is my airtime being used?
