On Friday 8 November I completed the online pre- order form for the iPhone 5S and received an e-mail at 05:59 confirming my deal request (ref. no. EZ904E) and that an agent would contact me within 24 hours.
I thought I would "ease the load" for Vodacom and phoned the Upgrade contact centre at 15:48. When I requested assistance to finalise my pre-order deal I was told by the agent that someone would phone me before the call centre closes (at 20:00). This call never came.
On Saturday morning on my 3rd attempt I finally got through to an agent. I explained my situation and that no-one had contacted me to finalise my deal. The agent found it strange I hadn't been contacted yet, but said that since I was on the line, she would assist me. Why could the first agent not have assisted me when I phoned on Friday?
When I gave her the details of the handset I selected on the pre- order form, she advised me that they did not have stock of the particular handset anymore and I therefore had to select a different colour or different capacity handset.
Why provide the option to pre- order if the process isn't being followed through- at no point did either agent even ask for my reference number!
