Promised a rosy deal and undeliverable!!

Hi I was contacted by an Elite Mobile agent and was offered an upgrade as I was due to upgrade my weekender contract... The agent advised me that I will have my same contract and BBM and BIS, I received the handset within 2 days of which I was unable to activate until last week as I needed to get a microsim. Today I get a message that my bill has gone up to 500.00 of which its soft-locked as its my limit. Upon calling the customer care at Vodacom, they advised that the use of emails and whatsapp and all BIS related data is what I have been charged. Had this been told and explained to me I would not have the contract as I can not afford this monthly bill. The agent to me that BIS was applicable on this contact of the Q5 handset..I am appalled and disgusted and want to return this handset.
