Password send to a 3G device???

I got a 3G device from Altech Autopage on contract. When I tried to set up an account on the Autopage site, using the number connected to the device, one of the steps was that the password will be send to my cell phone. Hello? I don't have a cellphone connected to this number; I have a 3G device...? When I phoned the customer service department, I was told that I have to put the sim card into another cell phone to retrieve the password. WHAT OTHER CELL PHONE??? Why doesn't Autopage give you the alternative of a password being send to your e-mail? Makes more sense, doesn't it?
