New phone over heat

I bought a new contract phone with mtn, a sony xperia z1. Within one week of using my new phone it overheated on many occasions to the point where it switched itself of. I took it back to the mtn branch where I bought it. They said I could pick it up in two weeks time. This is a huge problem for me since I need my phone for work everyday. The service at this specific branch is very slow! I expect better service and my phone back quicker.
