Shop assistant did not cancel contract as agreed

On 28 September 2013, my husband and myself went to Vodacom outlet in Brackenfell Cape Gate centre.

We were interested in taking out a contract for the new Galaxy Tab 3. At that point in time i had a contract that was ending in October 2013.

I then agreed to take a new contract for the Galaxy Tab only and the existing contract to be cancelled. We spent over an hour with the assistant. In this time spent there we were assured by the assistant that October would be the only month that we would be paying both contracts and that from Novmeber 2013 only the contract for the Galaxy Tab would be going off from my account.

Today 1/11/2013 i called the vodacom customer care centre and they informed me that the contract is not cancelled and i have to give 30 days notice for cancellation.

I called the assitant and she admits to making a mistake about this and there is nothing she can do.

This is poor service delivery, she did not do her job properly and therefore i am not going to pay the debit order which will be going off this month. This contract is to be cancelled as she assured my this would be done.
