Cell number deactivated after payment was made

We've changed banks in September and was a little too late for the debit switching, we have paid the monthly premium into MTN's account with the account details given by MTN in N1 City they simply said to make payment use the cell phone number as reference and fax through proof of payment to the number provided, this was all done. And yesterday the cell phone had everything disabled rendering it useless at which point we forwarded proof of payment again through to MTN and once more it was ignored. we're receiving emails stating that we now owe for some reason more than the monthly subscription and when we went into Canal walk MTN and they said that if we show them the proof of payment then they can forward it to billing and activate the account. So we showed the proof of payment and then he said oh no the account is perfect everything is fine, then the guy went into the back office and came back saying we owe MTN R190.40c because we never made payment and MTN charged us R11.40 for a missed debit and there is nothing he can do until we pay the amount. NOW! IF MTN HAD TAKEN NOTE OF THE FAX OF PROOF OF PAYMENT THEN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO ISSUE! I expect this to be fixed today.
