I took out a contract on my name, on behalf of my brother. I used his banking details for the monthly debit order when I signed the contract.

3 months into the contract my brother asked me to find out if he can switch from using his bank account for the monthly debit orders to him making EFT payments to Cell C.

I called Cell C's customer service and asked if it was possible. A consultant told me over the phone that, yes it is and ensured me that going forward the contract was setup on a cash basis, with no more debit orders.

This was in August... for the months of August and September a debit order by Cell C was attempted, which was declined and bounced back to them. Fees for this were then charged on the account.

My brother kept making his normal monthly payments unaware that an extra fee was being charged for unsuccessful debit orders. His phone was eventually switched off. To get the phone switched back on he had to pay an extra R75, this was done as he needed to use the phone.

Now in October the exact same thing happened, after I spoke to another one of your "helpful" customer service agents last week.

Yesterday his phone was switched off again, because of a R68.
