I used my contract phone sim card on my modem to browse the internet. I got the shock of my life when I received my end of September 2013 account to realise that I was billed R976.82. My contract sim card has a limit of R100 on it. How the account went on to that huge amount is a mystery. I called the call centre and the explanation I got is that when I use the sim card and its already on 50% utilisation they cannot soft lock the sim up until i finish to browse. I usually do not use the sim card and was on 0% utilisation when i was using it and started to browse the web.
I expected Vodacom to soft lock the sim when it reached its limit as they usually do.
this is not the first. I bought airtime for R160.00 on my modem simcard to purchase bundles only to find out that i received an insufficient funds message. this was also reported to vodacom and fortunately the matter
was resolved and I got the refund of my 1gig I wanted to buy.
Shall Vodacom pls take responsibility of not locking the sim and not make me the sole responsible person for such a huge amount. i cannot afford it thats why i have arrange for a limit on my sim card
