Paying a service I'm not receiving, broken phone!

Telecommunications

I've had my contract phone for 8 months now, 16 months to go. Blackberry Curve 9300.
Long story short, my phone is not working: *Switches off by itself, randomly: sometimes I'm unable to switch it back on for days. *SD card is corrupt (out of the blue) & lost all pics, docs, clips, etc. *Scrolling button gets stuck randomly.
Plain and simple, I asked to have my contract cancelled. With a bad attitude I was told I'd have to pay a penalty fee (? R3k). I eventually spoke to Claremont Franchise and offered to have phone repaired. I declined as I simply cannot battle with a phone that is 'repaired' only to break again. I said I would return the phone if they could cancel the contract and I would gladly take out a new contract (android phone) and stay with Vodacom. Needless to say, NOTHING, no feedback, no negotiating, nothing. VODACOM is obviously too big to care about the "little contracts" and don't need the business. Wonder if I charge Vodacom for the days I'm unable to access my contracted service because of a faulty phones, would they pay? Vodacom is welcome to take this up with blackberry, but Vodacom is the broker essentially & there responsible. #poorvodacom
