Contracts suspended without informing custome

I have two accounts at 8ta Telkom mobile. On Saturday I noticed that I cannot phone or use my data, I contacted the customer help line and they informed me that my contracts have been suspended. I asked them why was I not warned about this before the time, they said that my accounts have not been paid and the lines were suspended. Because I use my phone for all my internet related business I could not give them the proof they needed. On sunday 13/10/2013, I tried to phone them again to help me sort out this problem but they were unable to help me because their systems was down. I really feel that this is not a way to treat a customer, why suspend the lines immediately without asking the customer first what the problem is if there is any and why do you not give the customer time to rectify the problem before suspending lines.
