First off, I live in a house with 7 people in Newlands. Nevermind doing downloads, we go through a chunk of data just with everyone using the line. So it was inevitable that we were email warning we might get throttled by Mweb on their 2mb Premium uncapped line. So we decided to try the 4mb line to get around this.

3 weeks of complaining to Mweb about only getting 2mb speeds, where each time we were told our line was not syncing properly, we got in touch with Telkom who informed us we could not get a 4mb line as there was too much noise on the line and the exchange could not support it. So why couldn't Mweb tech see this? Mweb at canal walk showed me on their system that there was too much noise. So they could see it, but they just didn't do anything about it.

So we downgraded back to 2mb, where we were then immediately throttled to unusable speeds. When I complained about throttling they told me my only option was to upgrade my line, which I can't do. When I asked how much data we could use before being throttled, I was told that they can't give a number because as soon as there is a number it is not "uncapped" any more.
